Potty Training starts TODAY
We attempted to toilet train Sonia when she was (I think) sixteen months old, but it didn’t quite work out for so many reasons. Today, I think Sonia is more ready and we will try it all over again.
Side track a little – I could finally tie her hair!!!!!!!!!
Back to toilet training… It all started on Saturday at Grandma’s house when my mum told me to try wearing napkin instead of diaper for her. We tried and told her to let us know when she needed to visit the loo. The first time, she told us she needed to pee, and she pee(ed) then and there immediately. It was a mess. There wasn’t any time for us to react. The second time, she told us she needed to pee and waited for us to take her to the toilet. Good try! She had been good so far but of course, there were accidents (inevitable).
Today Sonia did really well (only one accident). I’m hoping she can stop wearing diapers altogether but when she’s in school, her teachers are not able to take her to the toilet at such frequency and at such speed. Sigh. I will have to practice “no diapers” whenever she’s home.
If there were any tips I could share, it has to be “PATIENCE”. A lot of PATIENCE. And never reprimand your child when accidents happen.
Wish me luck!
