Our highlights of twenty fourteen: in less than two thousand and fourteen words:

Come January, the new year began. I was heavily pregnant with “Edmund Junior” and couldn’t wait to meet my little gem (so was the rest of my family). And my precious little one, Sonia, is about to start schooling! How exciting, right? She looked so adorable in her oversize school uniform, I had to take
some a lot of pictures of her. We spent a lot of time together, reading, visiting libraries, exploring new indoor playgrounds, playing pretend, fixing puzzles, swimming and the list goes on…

Arnold had arrived! The best Valentines Day gift ever, ever. Our life took a BIG leap! Sonia was promoted to her jiejie status and she loved it! I was so relieved that she took her new role well and loved her brother so very much. Needless to say, I had a very busy and tiring month but no doubt, I was (and still am) a very very happy mummy! Those days were life changing. And they are the very best days of my life.

I was often covered in either breastmilk or spit up but I’m not complaining. I enjoy bonding with my children; I embrace motherhood! A pleasant and comfortable ‘confinement’ journey was possible only because I had such great parents-in-law! They made sure I was well taken care of, they helped to look after my child when I was breastfeeding the other, they looked after them in the night so I had enough rest. I was blessed, so blessed and I appreciated all of their help. I couldn’t imagine what mess I would have been if it wasn’t for them.

Still busy with my baby but by April, I had successfully brought both Sonia and Arnold out for a walk at the mall. Their charming smiles were like invisible magnets. Many passersby (of all age, colours and sizes) had to stop by to play with them or ask the typical “how old are they” question! I am one proud mummy!

Sonia turned TWO years old! We didn’t hold a birthday party for her because all a child at this age really cares about are cake, songs and presents in the company of family. We did however hold a quite lavish first birthday party for her because mummy (me) wanted a party. Turning one-year-old was a BIG thing to me and still is. Anyhow, we brought Sonia to <Kids Stop>. Though we didn’t hold a birthday party for her when she turned two, she had a great time and didn’t miss something bigger.

Arnold started taking semi-solid food and loving it. Sonia enjoyed her weekly play date with our neighbour’s kids, Heidi and Tiffany. And the highlight of the month was our vacation to Australia, Adelaide. It was Arnold’s first trip abroad! I was preparing for the worst but turned out, I was just being paranoid. My gems loved the weather, the clean air and the supermarket there. Already, I can’t wait for the next trip abroad with hubby and our gems.

After conceiving Arnold, I was told to wait six months before engaging in sports. Finally six months crawled by, and so hubby and I decided to pick up badminton again. And Sonia started her first swimming lesson! It was a good start to a healthier lifestyle!

I found a new hobby – baking. It started with baking pizza on one of Sonia’s play date and I got hooked on baking. I tried Chinese Steam Egg Cake, then cookies, then heaps of Pandan Cake till I got the right texture and taste, and I couldn’t stop baking since.

Edmund’s grandma turned 80 years old. Sonia went on her first school excursion to the Jurong Bird Park and she had been asking me to take her there again with Heidi jiejie and Tiffany meimei.

It felt like I have known my hubby forever. He was my friend, then boyfriend, then husband, and now the father of our gems. This month, we celebrated our third wedding anniversary. Oh, and we celebrated my brother, Kenneth’s 21st birthday too! A month of great celebrations!

This month’s highlight has got to be CHRISTMAS! My gems had so much fun, and so did we! It is safe to say “if our gems are happy, we are happy, happier, happiest” (rubbish grammar here but you get what I mean, right? haha~).
2014 had been kind on us and I’m thankful for so many things. It had been a good year, a good good year. Being able to grow up with my children is probably the second best thing that had ever happen to me (the best was marrying my hubby lah). Cheers to a very blessed 2014 and let’s welcome 2015!
HIP HIP HURRAY!!!
I love my life!
