Playdate Ideas | Puppet in the making

2015 07 03 - Puppet Craft for Kids

Last Wednesday, we had out usual playdate with the neighbour’s kids. I meant to do baking with the girls BUT Arnold was under the weather and my energy level was low, so I took out the Puppet Kits I bought some time back for Sonia, Heidi and Tiffany.

While buying some cupcake sleeves and ziplock bags from SKP, I was pleasantly surprised to see some crafting kits on the shelfs. Who would have thought a party supplier sells these. They were cheap and fun to play with. No need to draw on Illustrator, no need to print, no need to cut. Easy peasy!

Sonia had no problem identifying where each piece went but had problem gluing them on the correct side, either that or she used too much glue. It can be quite confusing since, for example, the tail is pasted inside the bag. So she had to place the glue on the coloured side instead of the white side.

Tiffany’s mummy helped the two-year-old with gluing and got her to paste the pieces on the paper bag. Of course, she needed more guidance. But pasting the spots (stickers) on the lion was a breeze. Little girls are just natural with stickers.

And Heidi worked on the parrot puppet independently. Yeah!

When the girls were done with the puppets, we did abstract art using coloured ice-cream sticks. There weren’t any rules. Just choose your favourite colours, pinch some glue at the back of the stick and paste. Again, easy peasy. This was done by Sonia and I’m not sure what she had in mind when she did this. Very colourful though! I like! Gee…

And this was Tiffany’s work.

Soon the kids got hungry… SNACK TIME!

I’m already thinking what to do on the next playdate. Bake some cookies?
