Gardens by the Bay with Learning Vision

2015 08 31 - Gardens by the Bay

Gardens by the Bay isn’t a new tourist attraction but definitely a garden every Singaporean MUST go! Why? Because it is one of the most distinctive gardens we have visited, with impressive collaboration of the nature and human creativity. We have been there at least twice and this is our third visit (that means something, no?).

This time round, we went on a school excursion with Sonia’s peers.

Sonia was very excited about taking a big school bus to Gardens by the Bay but not at all keen when asked to pose for a picture with me!

Here’s Sonia with her cheerful classmates. The more I ask her to smile, the more determine she is not to smile. Kids… Sigh!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

She flashed a BIG WIDE SMILE when the bus finally arrived. Didn’t manage to capture that mega watt smile but this isn’t too bad, right?

And so we have arrived…

The very first activities we had was “Photo Bingo”. The kids, together with their parents, had to find the items on their worksheet and paste a sticker on the image. The goal was to complete the entire worksheet by the end of the excursion. This may sound really simple but the kids enjoyed the activity a lot. I guess they felt a great sense of achievement after completing the “Photo Bingo”sheet (though that’s probably the last thing in their mind as lunch time approaches).

A very rare group photo. You know how kids work. They hardly, ever, stay still. At least not long enough to take a photo like this.

For some reason, all the kids were very interested in this bunch of “ants”. We spent some fifteen minutes there before heading to the flower dome.

Totally engrossed!

“Mummy, mummy, I saw ants!” exclaimed Sonia.

The girls spot something on their worksheet! Yeah!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Sonia is probably the most petite girl in class. Just look at her classmate, Kyla. She’s almost one head taller than her!!!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Yeah, they spotted something on their worksheet, again!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Leaping with joy, literally!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I particularly like this picture because both of them were smiling so sweetly! Would be better if she’s looking at the camera.

Curious children!

After gazing flowers, playing with friends, and taking hundreds of photos, the kids were hungry and tired. Even before lunch time, one of Sonia classmate’s mum was so kind of offer them buns. Yes, they finished the entire bun, so quickly. At least it kept them moving till lunch is served. Thanks, Weiyi!

Feeling energised after lunch and ready to venture into the Cloud Forest!

Guess what we saw in there? Lego flowers! The kids were fascinated! Sonia even requested for my mobile phone to take pictures of these vibrant artificial plants.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

There you go, photographer in the making.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

She actually had a conversation with the plants and asked them to smile!?!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

STUNT!

There were nothing in the pond, so I’m really not sure why they are so engrossed. Were they looking at their own reflection? Maybe.

Finally after a long walk, it’s time to go back. We didn’t get to go to the Sun Pavilion, Supertree Grove and the DragonFly Lake but really, the kids wouldn’t have the stamina to walk through them all. Maybe on our next trip to Gardens by the Bay?

On our way back to school, many kids were already asleep. Sonia remained wide awake but fell asleep as soon as she took her shower and drank her milk. It was a day well spent! Awesome bonding session for both the kids and parents!

Cheers! I’m already looking forward to the next school excursion!
