Arnold Turns Two
CNY CELEBRATION AT LEARNING VISION
Arnold’s birthday falls on a Sunday, so we’ve decided to celebrate his birthday two days early in school with his friends! He seems to understand the concept of “friends” and who they are. And he knows all his classmates by their first name (but he prefers calling all his female classmates, meimei). That’s funny but we let him be since his friends are not the least bothered. Gee…
So coincidentally, Learning Vision is also having their Chinese New Year celebration and his other classmate, Dave is celebrating his second birthday too! Triple the party, triple the fun, why not! So in the morning, the kids dressed in traditional costume, all ready for CNY celebration!
I really liked how family oriented Learning Vision is. They invited all parents and grandparents to participate in the event. So much warmth, no?
Just look at these tots! Everyone, no matter the race or religion, made an effort to dress up for the occasion. And the ever so spontaneous teachers were ALL in qipao (or at least in red garments). Above all the activities and games the teachers had painstaking prepared, I liked the “spirit” most. That sense of cohesiveness and togetherness were very precious!
The first activity Sonia participated in was “WHO PEELS THE ORANGE FIRST”. Something N2 students could manage 🙂
The daddies carried their tot in their arms, walked on beams and hurried back to the table to peel the mandarin oranges.
That wasn’t all! They must finished eating the oranges in the shortest possible time!
And so we roped yeye in for help!
We didn’t win but it doesn’t matter. Both hub and Sonia enjoyed the process and I thought that was all that matters. Good sportsmanship here!
After all the fun and laughter, we did a mass Lo Hei session with all the kids, parents, and grandparents! That was massive!
If memory didn’t fail me, we have about 7 sets of Yusheng on the table and I-don’t-know-how-many-of-us. The younger kids did their lohei session in their class.
With the count of three… 1…2…3… “Lo uh”!
Those who could squeeze in, squeezed in. Those who couldn’t, swing their mobile phone off their pockets/handbags and started taking hundreds of pictures of this priceless moment!
Arnold wasn’t very much interested in “Lo-Hei’ing” but was very much interested in eating the crackers! He was already helping himself while jiejie frantically hunt for more crackers. I liked how they always look out for each other! So sweet!

The pretty little girl in blue qipao is Kyla, Sonia’s bestie! She’s always talking about Kyla and wanting to take her to Beary Fun for a good jump!
We spent the next ten minutes or so chatting before the teachers started clearing the tables and gathering the kids. Soon, all parents left while the tots settled down, took their shower and had their nap. Meanwhile, we went for lunch, collected Arnold’s birthday cake and returned to school at 3’ish pm.
ARNOLD TURNS TWO
How did two years just passed by so quickly? Every single day was filled with so much laughters. Some times he makes us really furious but within minutes, we’re laughing at his silliness. This boy is special in his own way, in every way. We don’t seem to be able to get angry with him for long, ever! He’s smart, he’s witty, he’s mischievous, he’s cheeky, he’s funny, he’s loving, he’s caring, he’s thoughtful. He’s everything I dream of! Thanks for being my son, Arnold. He loves his sister so much (and vice versa), it melts our hearts. I’ve never seen a pair of siblings this loving before! Sure they fight but that never last long. Soon enough, they are playing, laughing, and hugging again. I’m blessed. Very very blessed! I hope both Sonia and Arnold will grow up to be best of friends, watch out for each other and always have each others’ back!
~See, I told you! Sonia just gave Arnold a peck on his cheek!~

~Happy birthday, Arnold~
Just watching them savour the cake makes me hungry.
“Lorraine Yiyi came all the way from Hong Kong to celebrate my birthday! Yeah!”
While the kids were digging in the cake, hub and papa were busy sharing pictures they took earlier with the kids! Good things must share!
This is Sonia and Arnold’s favourite part of the day – giving out birthday favours! We got the kids toy blocks because construction toys seem ideally suited for tots their age. It helps them to develop motor skills and hand-eye coordination, spatial skills, a capacity for creative, divergent thinking, social skills, and language skills! See, we put in much thoughts before deciding what to give the kids. We hope they put the gift to good use!
As soon as the kids got their hands on the bag of toy blocks, they opened the draw-string-bag and started playing. I hope they don’t mix them up because there are alphabet and number blocks in them. Mixing them might be a bad idea (some might go home with 2 “S” blocks or no “S” block at all, opss)!
Anyway, Arnold had so much fun and that’s what matters most to me. Well, it’s his birthday!
Happy birthday, sweetheart! Mummy loves you to the moon and back!
