2016 01 18 - WESA Fashion - Sonia OOTD #5

As my little baby grew older, I was denied the right to dress her up. Today, and many other yesterdays, she would blame me on bad taste, refuse to wear the outfit I picked and dressed herself up with whatever she felt was “good taste”. More than often, fashion disaster. But today, not too bad! She chose a very comfy polka dot peplum dress from H&M and a headband I handmade for her.

If anyone of you are interested in purchasing the same dress, head down to H&M. If you are interested in her headband, drop me an email at winnie@lovewesa.com; I will hand make one and mail it to you. This design isn’t posted on my blog shop¬†(yet) but there, you will find many other designs. This polka dot headband is priced at SGD 12.90. Payment can be done by direct transfer ūüôā

It was an exciting ride and now, we look forward to the next roller coaster ride ahead of us. Bring it on, 2016! And to everyone out there, have a happy new year!

Kids' STYLE

It’s kind of an S&A OOTD day. The kids chose their clothes, got dressed up and started jumping on my bed with their SG50 balloons. If you must know where the balloons came from; it was from an auntie we chanced upon at East Point while having breaky at Hans.

Arnold screamed “blloon blloon” and an auntie walked over to give both S & A each a balloon. I reckoned she just came back from some kind of event because she dressed in tee and shorts, had quite a big backpack with two balloons tied on¬†it! Maybe a walkathon or something? Anyway, we thanked the auntie for her kind gesture, went home, took a shower and went crazy with balloons! Actually, they already went crazy with their balloons from the moments they laid their hands on them.

Sonia OOTD

Just watching them having fun made me felt like I’ve just won a million dollar. They are my gems! When they are happy, I am.

Sonia OOTD

Sonia’s orange top overlaid with flora lace from Gingersnaps is vibrant, pretty and comfortable! She matched it with a pair of charcoal grey shorts, also from Gingersnaps. Her hairclip, of course, handmade by me (from WESA Ribbons)! She has at least a hundred hair accessories and she’s spoilt for choices!!

Sonia OOTD

Sonia OOTD

Arnold OOTD

Arnold’s choice was simple and very comfy. He seldom chooses shirts or long pants. Today he picked Carters’ active t-shirt, and a pair of white berms. Nothing fanciful but I thought they looked great on him (well, he’s my son and I always feel he looks great in any apparels).

Kids OOTD

On a typical weekend afternoon, Arnold threw on a blue singlet from Cotton On with a pair of Osh Kosh stripy pants and a matching hat from H&M. He seldom pulls over a jacket unless we are heading to the library or the supermarket. Today he wore one because jiejie was wearing her cardigan and he wanted to follow suit.

Kids OOTD

Our fashion style is simply being comfortable! I’m not sure how long more I can dictate Arnold’s dressing but I will continue to take charge until one day he decides I’m not cool enough to dress him.

Kids OOTD

Sonia started rejecting my fashion suggestions since she was two’ish but I hope Arnold will allow me to style him for as long as possible! I know it’s good for kids to take charge and learn to dress themselves up and have an opinion and learn to be confident and… but I really really really love dressing them up!!! I’m no fashion guru but I sure I can pull through dressing kids up!

Kids OOTD

Sonia chose her own outfit today (and most of the days). She wore an orange polka dot singlet from Carters under her grey ribbon themed cardigan, with a pair of turquoise home shorts from Carters too. Footwear from Crocs. Oh, and I almost forgotten, her pink flowery cap from Osh Kosh. How do you think she fare in matching clothes?

Kids OOTD

Unless we are going to somewhere special, I usually allow Sonia to choose her own clothes.

Kids OOTD

And I like how Arnold allows me to dress him up in anyway I want (for now)! Yeah!

WESA RIBBONS GRAND OPENING ON 8 OCTOBER 2015

Yes, WESA RIBBONS is here! Cheers to our GRAND OPENING!
(Scroll to the bottom for PROMO CODE)

Background

Getting into the whole ribbon wagon wasn’t planned. I just hopped onto it with some coincidence, pure interest and¬†a stroke of luck. I was lucky to have met a very kind Korean lady in Australia on a vacation, who is an expert in making hair accessories, and spent my days there learning the ropes. Then I retuned to Singapore with this whole Ribbon business concept and started working on the nitty gritty details, source for high grade suppliers, put the pieces together, and viola, WESA RIBBONS is born.¬†

WHY WESA

WESA is the abbreviation for Winnie, Edmund, Sonia and Arnold. If you have been following my blog, you need no introduction, if not, you can check out my profile page here. Without my family’s support, I wouldn’t have started this online business. So having a¬†Company’s name made up of our names was meaningful to me.

Premium Quality

WESA RIBBONS is an advocate for good quality products. I handmade most of the items you see in my blog shop and make special care to ensure that all products are put together with great precision. Those that don’t fit the bill get tossed straight into the bin. All materials used in making WESA Hair Accessories are from Korea, Japan, Taiwan, China and the USA. Among all items, the alligator clips and french barrettes are the skeletons of the products. These metal pieces must be of premium quality. I’ve imported them all from Korea. Needless to say, they don’t come cheap but I value quality and want only the best for you and your kids.

WESA RIBBONS also value hygiene. Before working on any hair accessories, I make sure I wash my hands throughly, and wipe my working table and tools with baby wipes. I also compartmentalise all materials accordingly and keep them in cool and dry places. Not that the ribbons and metal pieces will spoil in a hot and humid environment but why promote bacteria growth? I want the final products to reach your hands in absolute good condition.

We customise

WESA RIBBONS do customise hair accessories for birthday parties, weddings, or any other events.
Minimum order of 12 hair accessories. One month lead time (of course, the earlier you let us know, the better).

Special Offer

To thank you for your support, ALL hair accessories on WESA RIBBONS will be on SALE.
Key promo code WESA20 to enjoy 20% discount off all products on WESA RIBBONS.
Valid from 8-11 OCTOBER 2015.

Every girl needs ribbons and remember, there is no such thing as too much ribbons.
These cute little ribbons are perfect gifts for birthdays, Children’s Day, Christmas, Chinese New Year, Hari Ray, Deepavali…
See, you need ribbons for every occasion or no occasions at all.

2015 09 08 - Parents' Day at LV

Once a year “PARENTS’ DAY” is here again! Such school events may mean little to many but it meant a lot to hubby and I, and of course, to Sonia. In fact, we look forward to EVERY single school activity that requires parents’ engagements. We want to be there for our children. We want to know what she’s up to in school, who she mingles with, who her¬†best friends are, what she learns in school, etc. And activities like¬†this allow us to better understand her school life.

parents' day

As she walked into the room, I saw her gazing eyes. She was looking out for¬†us¬†among the crowd (we were seated at the front row, so it didn’t take her a long time to realise our existence). The instant she locked her eyes into ours, her face lit-up! That moment was priceless. She felt safe and very proud that we were there rooting for her.

parent's day

She was happy and that was all that mattered to us!

Among her ‘jungle friends’, she played the smallest animal – mouse. As soon as the music began,¬†Sonia¬†took the stage and started dancing with so much confidence. That took us by surprise because she was quite shy in nature.

“Roar like a lion, ROAR ROAR ROAR!”

“Squeak like a mouse, SQUEAK SQUEAK SQUEAK!”

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

“Roar like a bear, ROAR ROAR ROAR!”

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And dance like no one is watching…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Sonia had so much fun singing and dancing with her friends! Everyone of them looked so cute!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

My little mouse is sooooooooo cute, I had to take a picture with her!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Hubby wanted a picture with her too but she wasn’t very corporative. Never mind that, she was very enthusiastic about her art works though. She dragged us around her class to see every single piece of craft.

You have no idea how proud we are of her. She had grown so much since she started school at 19-month-young! Learning Vision was a right choice and we never looked back. Thank you, Teachers! You have helped to nurture our kids and brought them much fun and laughters.

2015 07 17 - WESA Family - Airport

Why Changi Airport?

Though I really love traveling and exploring the world, we are not there to catch a plane. We are there because it is HUGE, has lots of running space, a new themed play area every other month, and it’s convenient (near to where we live). Of course, there are more! There’s a supermarket at the basement, and our favourite Toast Box at Level 2. We dine there a lot too!¬†Our kids enjoy spending time at the airport more than the malls. And we are there at least once a week!

I used to take Sonia there a lot when she was little, and still do. Now Arnold is loving it too! Just last week, all of us went to Terminal 3 to la kopi, while the kids ran and jumped about at the HUGE empty space. They jumped so much, too much! That night, they slept well. Yeah!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

They started with dry hair and ended the day with a wet head! Too much running and jumping, but that’s a good problem.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OOTD | Sonia wore a white top from H&M, cardigan from Taiwan (a gift from nai nai), tights from Cotton On and shoes from RL.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Sonia tried to type on the keyboard and Arnold wanted to do the same.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

BUT he wasn’t tall enough…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

He tried to climb from the back but with no avail. He still couldn’t reach the keyboard. Sometimes, it’s fun to just sit back and watch them play.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Arnold tried to push Sonia off the chair (smack head). He didn’t quite understand what we said! I kept emphasising “a gentlemen gives way to a lady”. He just doesn’t gets it!!! Fuming -_-

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

While Sonia and Hub played catching, Arnold stood there looking lost. Why?

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OOTD | Peach orange tee shirt and blue cargo shorts from Carters. Stripy long sleeves from Osh Kosh. Socks from Cotton On and shoes from Adidas.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

When the big jie jie wanted to piggyback didi, mummy suffered a backache.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Sonia’s favourite activity – JUMP.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I could jump this high carrying Arnold? Really?

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Now I think I’m amazing!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Here’s my favourite picture of the day. Kinda blur and fuzzy but it doesn’t matter, my memories are clear.

Suddenly, everything seems cheaper in Australia, especially children toys and accessories!¬†I had to get her this mint green helmet (more because I really liked this colour and they didn’t have it in my size)!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Here’s our little girl trying to put on the helmet by herself. Of course, she needed mummy’s help!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

There you go.
FYI that’s her ‘smile’. Whenever I ask her to pose with a smile, she gives me the ever so splastic smile. Hmmppfff…

It felt like yesterday that I was at the labour room PUSHING…

And then, POP, he arrived and our life had never been the same.

It only gets better…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Our little bundle of joy – Arnold Ong.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

We were only beginning to bond and know each other, and suddenly he turned one month old.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And then, five months old. This lucky boy got to travel to Adelaide when he was only five months old. And boy, he enjoyed the weather, the company, and car rides (thankfully).

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

¬†I’m sooooooooo thankful that my gems loves each other sooooooooo much!
Guess my worries were for naught.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

We spent Christmas unwrapping presents together…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

We played dress up (thanks Kirby and Kimchi for the pretty Korean costumes).

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Arnold learned to stand and walk (assisted by clinging onto chair, table, etc).

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

And he attempted to eat read books.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

We did so many things together, I think I could write a book!

And now, Captain Arnold Turns ONE. So fast, right? I know!

My dear son, slow down. I just want my baby to be my baby for much longer.

Of course, I can go on and on about how I don’t want him to grow up so quickly but nevertheless, he will grow up (whether I like it a not). That’s why I cherish every single moment I have with my children. They only grow up once and I don’t want to miss any of their milestones. They need me as much as I need them. Our heart beat as one. Yeah!

And so, he grew and now he’s ONE.

Happy birthday, my gem!
